40 Over 40’s wise millennial judges named

Nominations close on Friday, Jan. 31, for The Charlotte Ledger’s 40 Over 40 awards. Today, we are proud to announce the following panel of wise under-40 judges. Boy, will they have their work cut out for them.

The judges are:

  • Dr. Temeka Brantley, 35, is a nonprofit leader and motivational speaker. Inspired by Gandhi’s words “be the change,” she is dedicated to encouraging, empowering and educating others through service, teaching and speaking. A resident of northern Charlotte, “Dr. T” enjoys running various greenways throughout the city with her husband. 
  • Qulia Bryant, 32, is the broker of a local real estate firm Perfect House Realty, which she founded in 2017. She lives in University area with her spouse and children.
  • Julie Cavallaro, 38, is the CEO of the Cavallaro Clan. When she’s not shuttling children around town, you can find her working at DownDog Veterinary Clinic.  She lives in Ballantyne with her husband and two children.
  • Sara Downing, 38, is business development manager for Shiel Sexton, a local construction company. She enjoys visiting flea markets and discovering roadside furniture, fixing up what she finds, then reselling — a hobby known as “upcycling.” She lives in Matthews with her husband, 5-year-old son and two rescue dogs.
  • Natalie Foy, 36, is a trading desk analyst. She loves living in Dilworth with her husband and two kids and is a proud member of the free workout group Females in Action (FiA).
  • Alison Hall, 37, is a residential architect and owner of Alison Hall Architect Inc., which she started in 2012.  She lives in “LoSo” (the Sedgefield area) with her husband and three boys.
  • Drew Long, 37, works for himself making the technical bits of business meetings happen smoothly. He lives in east Charlotte with his wife, kids and their small fluffy wimpy dog.
  • Parker Melvin, 35, is a commercial real estate broker with his own firm, Eagle Commercial Realty. He lives in Cotswold with his wife and two young daughters.
  • Sophie Mohajerani, 26, is a Charlotte native and a manager at an investment firm. She serves as a board member for local nonprofit, Supportive Housing Communities. She lives in Dilworth and enjoys running. 
  • Cassandra Perkins, 27, is a VP corporate communications manager at Bank of America, specializing in internal communications, campaign development, and event management. She lives in uptown. 
  • Corri Smith, 34, is the owner and executive leader of Black Wednesday, a Charlotte-based boutique marketing and PR company. She lives in Druid Hills.
  • Marian Tison, 37, serves as the enterprise accounts leader for the Charlotte office of TalentBridge, a recruiting and staffing company. She lives and works in SouthPark. Her husband and three sons are avid fans of her short commute.
