What? The World Affairs Council of Charlotte invites you to an enriching and thought-provoking discussion on diplomacy and dialogue at our upcoming events with H.E. Sheikh Meshal Bin Hamad Al-Thani, the Ambassador of Qatar to the United States.
Ambassador Al-Thani will participate in WACC's Ambassadors Circle Series lunch on October 17 with Council members and guests. Since gaining independence in 1971, Qatar experienced remarkable growth driven by its oil and gas boom. Smaller than the state of Connecticut, this tiny Gulf state boasts an economy far exceeding its size (GDP 236.3 billion USD: 2022). Historically, Qatar's rapid GDP growth has been fueled by its vast oil and natural gas reserves. However, the country is now focusing on diversifying its economy. Since 2008, Qatar's development has been guided by the Qatar National Vision 2030. This ambitious plan aims to transform Qatar into an advanced nation by 2030, ensuring sustainable development and a high standard of living for its people for generations to come.
